Bengaluru: A court extended former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna’s police custody by four days in connection with the Hassan sex abuse case. The 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court has remanded the suspended JD(S) leader to the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) until June 10.
The SIT prosecutor requested an extension of Prajwal’s custody for five more days, citing the need to conduct a mahazar (crime scene recreation) and perform a technical analysis. The prosecutor also highlighted the necessity of accessing the former MP’s phone. Prajwal’s defense counsel opposed the extension.
After considering both sides, Judge K N Shivakumar decided to extend Prajwal’s SIT custody by four days.
Prajwal Revanna faces accusations of raping at least two women, including a former maid in her 60s, and sexually harassing another woman. He was arrested by the SIT in the early hours of May 31 shortly after arriving at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport from Munich, Germany. He was initially remanded in SIT custody until June 6.
On Wednesday, Prajwal was taken to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital for a medical examination. This followed a previous medical examination conducted when he was first taken into custody on May 31.
