Four foreign national women allegedly escaped from a shelter home supervised by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Bengaluru, leading the Kothanur Police to register a case and begin an investigation.

According to officials, the women escaped from the New Ark Mission of India (Home of Hope) near KRC Road in Dodda Gubbi between 3 am and 6 am on May 11 by allegedly breaking open a window.

The escaped women have been identified as Topista Kwikiriza, Tibiwa Irena, Safina Nakanyike, and Fitina Nzeyimana.

An FIR was registered on May 15 following a complaint filed by Srinivas N, manager of the shelter home, after attempts to trace the women reportedly failed.

Shelter houses foreign nationals under FRRO supervision

According to the complaint, the New Ark Mission of India has been functioning since 1998 and accommodates foreign nationals directed there by the FRRO and various police stations across Bengaluru.

Officials stated that the shelter currently houses 22 male and 18 female foreign nationals.

Sources said the escaped women were allegedly overstaying their visas and have been booked under relevant provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.

Police have launched efforts to trace the women and are investigating how the escape took place despite supervision at the facility
