Ujjawal Asthana, co-founder of activewear brand Zymrat, is bidding goodbye to Bengaluru after 14 transformative years, choosing Pune as his next destination. In an emotional note shared on social media, he reflected on Bengaluru’s indelible impact, attributing his first job, entrepreneurial milestones, and an invaluable personal and professional network to the city.
Asthana expressed gratitude for never feeling like an outsider, despite not being a local. “Bangalore has given me all the good things in my life—first job, foreign trip, a life partner, successful ventures, funding, and a priceless network,” he wrote, adding that he had experienced the city from all angles, from BMTC buses to car rides.
While highlighting Bengaluru’s charm beyond its famed weather, coffee culture, and startup scene, Asthana encouraged people to experience its deeper essence by walking through neighborhoods like Jayanagar.
Though he didn’t elaborate on his reasons for relocating, he noted it was for professional opportunities and shared excitement about exploring Pune. “Bangalore is not a city; it’s a beautiful experience. While Pune becomes my new home, I’ll keep walking Bengaluru’s lanes on every trip back.”
His heartfelt post sparked lively discussions online, with users comparing the two cities. Many praised Pune’s balance of modern infrastructure, natural beauty, rich history, and food culture.
As Asthana turns the page to his next chapter, he leaves behind a city that he describes as more than just a place—it’s an experience.
