Bengaluru : Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara was admitted to Vaidehi Hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday after a sudden increase in his heart rate, but doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable and his medical test results are normal.

Dr. V.K. Srinivas said Parameshwara was responding well to treatment and was expected to be discharged within two hours. The Deputy Chief Minister was eating and was reported to be comfortable, with his heart rate returning to normal and the ECG showing no abnormalities.

The doctor said Parameshwara had experienced a rapid heartbeat in the morning and walked into the hospital when his heart rate was recorded at more than 180 beats per minute. After examining him, the medical team provided treatment and brought the condition under control.

Srinivas explained that a sudden electrical disturbance in the heart can cause the heartbeat to rise sharply. While some people may not notice such episodes, others may become aware of them because of the symptoms, he said.

BJP MP Govind Karjol visited Parameshwara at the hospital to enquire about his health. After the meeting, Karjol told reporters that the Deputy Chief Minister was doing well and that doctors had indicated he could go home on Tuesday evening. He said he had also spoken to Parameshwara’s family and urged the public not to be anxious about his condition.

Earlier on Tuesday, Parameshwara had inaugurated the India International Challenge 2026 badminton tournament in Bengaluru. The event was organised by the Karnataka Badminton Association at its indoor stadium.

Parameshwara, who also holds the Sports portfolio, reportedly appeared exhausted during the programme. His personal assistants and security staff promptly took him to the hospital for examination and treatment.

The hospital’s latest assessment indicated that his condition had stabilised, with doctors expecting him to resume his routine after a period of rest following discharge.
