Even as the LPG supply situation in the city shows signs of improvement, many households continue to face delays in receiving cooking gas cylinders, with waiting periods stretching up to one to two weeks.

🔥 Supply improves, but delivery delays persist

While bookings for LPG cylinders are being accepted without major issues, delivery timelines remain a concern. Several gas agencies across Bengaluru report that customers are waiting at least a week, with some cases extending to 15 days.

A manager from a gas agency in Yelahanka noted that although panic booking has reduced, anxiety among consumers persists. “People are visiting agencies within two days of booking to check delivery status,” the manager said.

📞 Agencies overwhelmed with queries

Gas distributors across the city are witnessing increased footfall and a surge in phone enquiries from customers eager to know when their cylinders will arrive. Agencies have urged residents to wait patiently for at least a week before following up.

The delay has disrupted daily routines, especially in households dependent on timely LPG supply for cooking.

🍽️ Hotels face supply confusion

The situation is equally challenging for the hospitality sector. The government has agreed to meet nearly 33% of the LPG demand of hoteliers, subject to registration with Gas Authority of India Limited.

However, confusion persists due to discrepancies between official data and actual usage. Many hotels previously relied on informal arrangements with delivery agents, which were not recorded in official systems.

P C Rao from the Bruhat Bangalore Hotels Association acknowledged the issue, stating that discussions are ongoing and many establishments are now registering with GAIL to streamline supply.

🏠 PG accommodations struggle to adapt

Paying guest (PG) accommodations are facing similar challenges. Without proper documentation of past usage, many PG owners are uncertain about their LPG entitlements under the new system.

Aruna Kumar D T said efforts are underway to register with GAIL, but confusion remains. “For now, many of us have shifted to firewood cooking,” he added, highlighting the severity of the situation.

⚖️ Gradual normalisation expected

Officials and industry representatives indicate that the situation is gradually stabilising as panic booking subsides and registrations improve. However, until supply chains fully align with actual demand, residents and businesses may continue to face short-term inconvenience.
