Devanahalli : Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport have thwarted a major gold smuggling operation, seizing 9,375 grams of gold worth ₹6.6 crore and detaining eight passengers who arrived from various international destinations between July 9 and July 13.

According to officials, the detained passengers had arrived from Dubai, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, and Colombo, and they have been remanded in judicial custody.

In a separate incident, customs officials seized foreign currency worth ₹1.59 crore from a passenger with a criminal background who arrived from Sharjah.
