Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru seized 2 kg 579 grams of gold worth Rs 1.68 crore on Thursday. The gold was being transported by Sheikh Mohammad Imran, who had arrived from Dubai on flight EK 564.
Imran had hidden the gold in his clothes but was caught by customs officials. He is currently being interrogated, along with another accused, Arapis, who was also found to be carrying gold hidden in clothes.
This is the second major seizure at the airport in two days, following the confiscation of 40 iPhones and 5 Apple Watches from a passenger arriving from Dubai on Wednesday. Customs officials are investigating both cases and questioning the accused to uncover the source and intent behind the smuggling attempts.
