Bengaluru: A 35-year-old grocery shop owner died after suffering an electric shock while inspecting the construction of a storage shed in Doddaballapur on the outskirts of Bengaluru, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Sathish, a resident of Chaitanya Nagar, who was building the shed near Dattatreya Layout to expand storage facilities for his grocery business.
Electrocuted while inspecting work
According to police, Sathish visited the construction site on Thursday to check the progress of the ongoing work when he accidentally came into contact with an electric source, resulting in a severe electric shock.
The exact circumstances leading to the electrocution are yet to be determined.
Following the incident, those present at the site rushed him to Doddaballapura Hospital for treatment.
Succumbed despite treatment
Despite efforts by doctors to save him, Sathish succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
His death has left family members and local residents in shock, with many expressing grief over the tragic accident.
Police launch investigation
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine how the electrocution occurred and whether any safety lapses or negligence contributed to the incident.
Officials are expected to inspect the construction site and record statements from workers and witnesses as part of the inquiry.
