A sudden hailstorm in Bengaluru turned into a moment of joy for former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, who was seen embracing the unexpected weather like a child.

A playful moment in the rain

Prasad, currently serving as president of the Karnataka State Cricket Association, shared a video on social media showing himself stepping out of his car during the hailstorm. In a spontaneous moment, he stopped to pick up hail pellets from the road and even playfully tasted one, smiling as he enjoyed the rare weather.

“When you get a hailstorm, you don’t ask questions, you just become a child again! As they say, Dil toh bachcha hai ji!” he wrote, capturing the light-hearted mood of the moment.

Sudden storm disrupts city

The hailstorm, accompanied by heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, swept across parts of the city on April 29. The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert as winds reached up to 50 kmph, causing disruption in several areas.

While the storm brought relief from the heat, it also led to waterlogging and traffic issues across key roads and low-lying areas.

Rare sights across Bengaluru

The sudden burst of ice pellets transformed parts of the city into unusual icy landscapes. Areas like Kanteerava Stadium were briefly covered in a white layer of hailstones—an uncommon sight in Bengaluru’s typically warm climate.

Social media reacts

The video quickly went viral, with many praising Prasad’s cheerful and relatable response. Residents across the city connected with the moment, as the unexpected hailstorm offered a refreshing break from days of intense heat.

Beyond the disruption, the brief spell brought a sense of nostalgia and simple joy—reminding many of childhood moments when sudden rain meant dropping everything and stepping out to enjoy it
