Bengaluru: What began as a mission to reduce plastic waste has grown into a thriving green business for Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Vaibhav Anant. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) alumnus left his corporate job to build Bambrew, a sustainable packaging startup that now generates nearly ₹2 crore in monthly revenue by offering eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastic.
Turning concern into a business
India continues to face a serious plastic pollution challenge, with millions of tonnes of single-use plastic ending up in landfills, rivers and oceans every year. Motivated by the need for sustainable alternatives, Anant founded Bambrew in 2018 to manufacture biodegradable and compostable packaging made from natural materials such as bamboo, wood pulp and other plant-based fibres.
Initially focused on replacing plastic straws, the company soon expanded into a wider range of packaging products used across industries, including e-commerce, retail, FMCG and food delivery.
Serving leading brands
Today, Bambrew supplies sustainable packaging solutions to several major companies, helping businesses reduce their dependence on conventional plastic packaging. The startup’s products are designed to match the durability and functionality of plastic while remaining biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
According to reports, the company currently records monthly revenues of around ₹2 crore, reflecting the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions as businesses adopt greener practices.
Sustainability with commercial success
Anant’s journey highlights how environmental responsibility can go hand in hand with commercial success. As governments and consumers push for reduced plastic usage, startups like Bambrew are demonstrating that innovative, sustainable alternatives can also become profitable businesses.
With increasing awareness about plastic pollution and stricter environmental regulations, India’s green packaging sector is expected to witness strong growth in the coming years, creating new opportunities for eco-conscious entrepreneur
