Major Disruptions in Koramangala and Outer Ring Road (ORR)
Overnight rains on Sunday caused significant disruptions in Bengaluru, particularly in Koramangala and near the Outer Ring Road (ORR). A large tree fell near the water tank bus stop, blocking the Sony signal road and creating traffic jams. Additionally, roads such as Rama Temple Road were heavily waterlogged, making navigation difficult for vehicles and pedestrians.

Active Weather Systems Causing Instability
The downpour is being attributed to active weather systems in both the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. According to weather experts, two major circulations in the Arabian Sea and a newly formed Upper Air Cyclone (UAC) close to the west coast have caused instability. Another UAC near Tamil Nadu has also intensified the situation, leading to more rain in southern Karnataka.

Widespread Rains and Yellow Alert
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru and nearby districts for the next three days, warning of continuous heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Other districts such as Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, Shivamogga, Mandya, Mysuru, Tumkuru, and Ramanagara are also expected to receive heavy showers. Bengaluru is set to experience significant rainfall, making areas prone to flooding vulnerable.

School Closures and Safety Precautions
Due to the heavy rains, schools in Bengaluru have been shut, but colleges remain open. Residents are urged to stay cautious, particularly in areas prone to tree falls and waterlogging. Commuters are advised to check local advisories and avoid routes where trees or flooding may cause further delays.

As rains continue, Bengaluru’s roads and infrastructure face major challenges. The city is expected to face more downpours over the next few days.
