Bengaluru: The grand Hoovina Karaga, the most anticipated event of the Bengaluru Karaga festival, will begin at midnight on Saturday from the Dharmaraya Swamy Temple. The sacred procession will wind through the heart of the old city, halting at prominent temples and shrines before returning to the starting point by Sunday morning.

The Karaga will be honoured at Ganapathi and Mutyalamma Temples, then proceed through Halasuru Pete, Nagarthapete, Cubbonpete, Ganigarapete, Doddapete, Balepete, Kilari Road, and more, including a symbolic visit to the Mastan Sab Dargah—a tradition showcasing Bengaluru’s spirit of communal harmony.

On Thursday night, the Hasi Karaga Mahotsava was observed at the Shakti Peetha near Sampangi Lake. Priest Gnanendra, bearing the floral Karaga and a ceremonial sword, carried it on his waist for the 15th consecutive year. Devotees lit massive camphor flames in reverence during the vibrant rituals.

The Hasi Karaga procession started from the Adishakti Temple at BBMP HQ, passed Hudson Circle, and returned to Dharmaraya Swamy Temple, marking a spiritual prelude to the main event.
