Bengaluru: A student from the International Institute of Information Technology Bengaluru (IIIT-B) has secured a Rs 1.5 crore annual placement package, one of the highest offers made on campus this year and higher than the top packages reported by several Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) during the latest placement season.

The record-breaking offer was made to a student from the institute’s Integrated MTech programme. Two other students also secured annual packages exceeding Rs 1 crore, with each receiving offers worth Rs 1.3 crore.

Strong placement season for IIIT-B

The impressive placement figures were announced during IIIT Bengaluru’s 26th Convocation, where 316 students graduated.

According to the institute, more than 22 students secured annual salary packages exceeding Rs 60 lakh, while 27 students received offers ranging between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh. Additionally, over 110 graduates bagged placements with annual salaries above Rs 20 lakh.

The graduating batch included 95 Integrated MTech students, 175 MTech graduates, 32 Master of Science (Research) students and 14 PhD scholars.

Technology and research in focus

Addressing the convocation, IIIT-B Director Debabrata Das highlighted the institute’s work in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), including the establishment of India’s first DPI Division within an academic institution.

He also noted that the Tele-MANAS platform, developed with the institute’s support, has handled over 40 lakh calls, strengthening access to mental healthcare across the country.

Chief Guest Professor Rajat Moona of IIT Gandhinagar encouraged graduates to prepare for a future shaped by rapid advances in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Convocation celebrates academic excellence

The convocation also recognised several outstanding achievers. Subhajeet Lahiri received the Institute Gold Medal for the Integrated MTech programme, while Singuru Manognya was awarded the IIIT-B Gold Medal for MTech.

The institute also celebrated the graduation of its 100th PhD scholar in Computer Science and Engineering, marking another significant milestone in its academic journey.

The strong placement performance further reinforces IIIT Bengaluru’s growing reputation as one of India’s leading technology institutions.
