Esslingen-based INDEX Group on Friday inaugurated an integrated technology centre at Aerospace Park near Kempegowda International Airport, reinforcing its long-term commitment to India’s growing manufacturing sector.
Integrated hub for Indian industry
The new facility houses offices for sales, technology, application, customer service and administration. It will showcase advanced CNC turning machines under the INDEX and TRAUB brands, enabling customers to bring their components and technical drawings for customised manufacturing solutions.
Having operated in India for over 25 years through sales and service, the company established INDEX Machine Tools India Pvt Ltd in 2023. The new centre is expected to enhance direct engagement with Indian clients.
Focus on advanced machining solutions
INDEX offers multi-spindle automatic lathes, universal turning machines, sliding-headstock automatic lathes, turn-mill centres and production turning machines. Its metal-cutting systems process steel, aluminium, titanium and other metallic bars.
Managing Director Wilson Thomas said the centre would enable comprehensive support — from consulting and test machining to technical service — strengthening partnerships across automotive, aerospace, electronics, semiconductors and medical device industries.
Chairman Dirk Prust emphasised that the expansion reflects confidence in India’s industrial growth and the importance of close customer interaction.
Exploring local manufacturing
The company is also evaluating the possibility of assembling machines in India using imported components, though this may take at least three years. Currently, INDEX manufactures in Germany, China, Brazil and Slovakia.
With Bengaluru emerging as a precision manufacturing and aerospace hub, the new technology centre signals deeper Indo-German industrial collaboration and growing investment confidence in Karnataka.
