Bengaluru: India’s leading information technology companies — Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro — have significantly expanded the deployment of Microsoft’s AI-powered productivity assistant, Microsoft 365 Copilot, to more than 3 lakh employees collectively. The announcement highlights the rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence technologies across India’s IT industry and marks one of the largest enterprise AI deployments globally.
According to Microsoft, each of the three companies has now extended Copilot access to more than 1 lakh employees, reflecting a major increase from the approximately 50,000 licences deployed by each organisation in December 2025.
AI adoption moves beyond pilot projects
Microsoft stated that the three technology giants have moved beyond initial experimentation and pilot programmes and are now integrating AI tools into their routine business operations.
Employees across engineering, software development, service delivery and corporate functions are using Microsoft 365 Copilot for a range of activities, including research, content creation, documentation, data analysis, coding assistance and workplace collaboration.
The rapid scale-up demonstrates how generative AI is becoming a core component of modern enterprise workflows, helping organisations improve productivity and streamline operations.
Industry analysts note that large-scale deployments such as these are likely to influence broader AI adoption trends across India’s technology sector and global outsourcing industry.
Wipro reports highest employee engagement
Among the three companies, Wipro reported the strongest employee engagement with the AI platform.
The company stated that more than 95 per cent of licensed employees actively use Copilot every month. According to Wipro, employees generate nearly 75 lakh prompts monthly through the platform.
The company also reported substantial productivity gains, claiming that Copilot has helped save more than 2.5 lakh full-time equivalent workdays every quarter.
Wipro revealed that employees have created more than 29,000 AI agents to automate tasks and improve workflows. In addition, over 60 enterprise-grade AI solutions are currently being utilised across various departments and business functions.
One of the notable applications has been an AI-powered appraisal system that reportedly reduced performance review efforts by nearly 70 per cent through automated goal tracking, performance monitoring and evaluation processes.
Infosys expands AI access across departments
Infosys announced that it has extended Copilot access to more than 1 lakh employees across its delivery, engineering and corporate divisions.
The company reported that over 91 per cent of licensed users actively engage with the platform every month, indicating widespread adoption among employees.
The deployment forms part of Infosys’ broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into business processes and improve operational efficiency.
Company officials believe AI-powered tools will increasingly support employees in handling routine tasks, enabling them to focus on higher-value and more complex work.
TCS sees gains in productivity and efficiency
TCS also reported strong adoption levels, with 86 per cent of its licensed workforce using AI tools in their daily operations.
According to the company, research-related and content-generation activities have witnessed productivity improvements of between 20 and 25 per cent following Copilot deployment.
Some teams have reportedly doubled the speed at which they generate business insights, while work-cycle durations have been reduced by approximately 25 to 35 per cent.
The company views generative AI as a critical enabler of innovation and operational excellence, particularly in areas involving knowledge management, analytics and customer-facing services.
Next phase to focus on deeper AI integration
The three technology firms indicated that their next phase of AI adoption will involve deeper integration of artificial intelligence into enterprise systems, client delivery platforms and business operations.
Rather than using AI solely as a productivity tool, companies are increasingly looking at ways to embed AI into decision-making processes, workflow automation and service delivery models.
Microsoft described the rollout as one of the largest enterprise AI deployments in the world, highlighting the growing confidence of major organisations in generative AI technologies.
As AI adoption accelerates across industries, the experiences of Infosys, TCS and Wipro are likely to serve as important indicators of how artificial intelligence can reshape workplace productivity, innovation and operational efficiency at scale.
