Investigators probing the murder of a six-year-old girl in Bengaluru are examining whether plans by the accused mother and her alleged partner to start a new family through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) may have played a role in the crime.

According to sources cited in media reports, Priyanka P and Mohan MG had reportedly visited a hospital and initiated procedures related to IVF before the child’s death.

Police probe possible motive

The development has added a new dimension to an already shocking case that has drawn widespread public attention across Karnataka.

Police are investigating whether the couple’s alleged plans to have a child together influenced events leading up to the murder. However, officials have not yet established a direct connection between the IVF procedure and the crime.

The six-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted and smothered inside a car. Mohan was arrested earlier and is reported to have confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Mother arrested after week-long search

The child’s mother, Priyanka, an advocate by profession, was arrested from a farmhouse in Sakaleshpur in Hassan district following a week-long search operation.

The arrest came after the girl’s estranged father filed a complaint alleging the involvement of Priyanka and Mohan in the child’s death.

A court has remanded the accused to five days of police custody for further questioning.

Investigation widened

Police are now focusing on the motive behind the murder and examining multiple angles. Investigators are also looking into allegations that the accused mother was unhappy with her daughter’s complexion, though officials have not confirmed this as a motive.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh acknowledged lapses in the initial stages of the investigation and said action had been taken against those responsible.

The case has since been transferred to an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-rank officer from another division for further investigation.

Authorities said the probe remains ongoing and more details are expected to emerge as questioning and forensic examinations continue. #Bengaluru #CrimeNews #Investigation #KarnatakaPolice #IVF #newskarnataka
