Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna, brother of Prajwal Revanna who faces sexual assault allegations, was arrested by Karnataka Police on Saturday. The arrest followed a complaint filed by a JD(S) worker at Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district. The complainant accused Suraj of sexually assaulting him at Suraj’s farmhouse on June 16. According to the complaint, Suraj allegedly assaulted him, promising political support in return. The complainant notified Suraj via text afterward, to which Suraj reportedly responded reassuringly.

The Holenarasipura police registered a case against Suraj Revanna under IPC sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) late Saturday. Following the complaint, the complainant was brought to Bengaluru after refusing certain medical tests in Hassan. A potency test was scheduled at Bowring Hospital with a senior doctor present.

Suraj Revanna, along with Shivakumar, also filed a complaint alleging blackmail over a “false sexual assault allegation.” Shivakumar claimed a man befriended him under false pretenses and sought help during the Lok Sabha elections to meet Suraj.

Suraj Revanna’s arrest occurred when he visited the Cyber Economic and Narcotics Crime (CEN) police station in Hassan on Saturday. Senior officials ensured he did not evade arrest, which took approximately four hours, according to Hassan SP Sujeetha Mohammed.

This development closely follows former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna’s judicial custody for alleged sexual harassment, subsequent to his return from Germany where he had fled amid accusations. Prajwal’s mother, Bhavani Revanna, and father, HD Revanna, also faced legal actions related to kidnapping and sexual assault cases.
