Bengaluru: In a continuation of the legal saga surrounding former JD(S) Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna, a Bengaluru court has decided to extend his judicial custody by an additional 14 days. Revanna, scion of the influential political family of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, is embroiled in a series of allegations pertaining to sexual abuse and rape leveled against him by multiple women.
The decision was made following Revanna’s appearance before the special court for elected Representatives on June 6, where he was initially remanded to the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) until June 10. Revanna’s arrest unfolded swiftly upon his arrival at Kempegowda International Airport from Munich, marking a dramatic turn in his political career.
The 33-year-old former MP, who represented the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, faces grave accusations stemming from multiple instances of sexual assault, with explicit videos purportedly implicating him circulating widely. These allegations surfaced after his departure for Germany on April 27, the day after polls concluded in Hassan, leaving authorities struggling to locate him.
In response to Revanna’s evasion, Interpol has issued a Blue Corner Notice, soliciting information regarding his current whereabouts. As investigations intensify and public scrutiny heightens, the case remains a focal point of concern, underscoring the urgency of addressing allegations of sexual misconduct within the corridors of power.
