Bengaluru: A Kannada film actor was allegedly assaulted with a beer bottle by unidentified individuals at a bar in the city in the early hours of March 28, 2026.

The victim, identified as Niranjan, is known for playing the younger brother of Darshan in the film Odeya.

Incident near Uttarahalli Road

According to the complaint, the incident took place near Mantri Alliance on Uttarahalli Road. Niranjan was returning on a two-wheeler from the residence of fellow actor Yashas Surya at around 2:00 am when he stopped near a bar.

An unidentified individual allegedly pushed him, leading to a verbal altercation. When questioned, the accused reportedly abused him and remarked that his status as a film actor did not matter in the area.

Assault escalates

Although the situation initially subsided after Niranjan spoke to the bar owner and went inside, it escalated shortly thereafter.

The complaint states that 3–4 individuals arrived in a silver Toyota Innova and reignited the confrontation. The altercation turned violent, with two persons physically assaulting him while others attacked him using beer bottles.

Niranjan sustained injuries after being struck on the head during the assault.

Loss of belongings and complaint filed

Amid the chaos, the actor also reported losing his wristwatch. Following the incident, he approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Police investigation underway

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the accused and determine the sequence of events leading to the assault.
