Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has sanctioned a significant salary raise for its employees in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission’s guidelines. The decision was finalized during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday.
Effective from August 1, employees will experience a 27.5% increase in their salaries, aimed at bolstering their financial stability. The annual additional expenditure for implementing these adjustments is estimated at ₹17,440.15 crore. This initiative is anticipated to boost employee satisfaction and retention rates.
This salary hike underscores the state’s commitment to equitable compensation and economic advancement. By enhancing government employees’ salaries, Karnataka seeks to uplift morale, increase productivity, and ultimately enhance the efficiency of public services.
Previously, in March 2023, then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had approved an interim 17% salary increase for employees.
