The Karnataka government is set to embark on a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing rural connectivity. Under two new schemes, Pragati Patha and Kalyana Patha, the government plans to develop a total of 8,260 km of roads across the state’s Legislative Assembly constituencies. This ambitious undertaking, costing Rs 6,190 crore as detailed by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, aims to boost economic corridors and improve living conditions.
Pragati Patha targets 7,110 km of roads spanning 189 constituencies with an investment of Rs 5,190 crore, whereas Kalyana Patha focuses on 1,150 km across 38 constituencies in the Kalyana Karnataka region, amounting to Rs 1,000 crore. The schemes prioritize roads connecting major habitations and enhancing links between smaller and larger villages.
MLAs will play a crucial role in identifying priority roads for development, ensuring local needs are met effectively. These efforts are expected to surpass previous initiatives like PMGSY and NGNRY, emphasizing improved quality through soil stabilization techniques to enhance road durability and reduce maintenance costs over time.
With tenders set to be issued soon, these initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to rural development and infrastructure enhancement across Karnataka.
