Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is considering introducing an online mode for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), but final decisions will prioritize the needs of rural students, according to Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Sudhakar emphasized that transitioning to an online test format would necessitate significant infrastructure upgrades. “We require approval from the Finance department. Additionally, we must consider rural students, as many of them face challenges in correctly filling out application forms,” he explained.
Sudhakar mentioned that a proposal from a Maharashtra-based company, along with a demonstration, has been received regarding the online transition. “There are substantial differences between Maharashtra and Karnataka. We have sought clarifications from the company,” he added.
Furthermore, Sudhakar announced the imminent launch of a mobile app designed to assist students in filling out KCET application forms. “This year, we had to allow corrections in the forms multiple times due to numerous errors,” he noted. The minister also distributed certificates to successful candidates of the KSET examination in 2023.
