Bengaluru: The Karnataka Department of School Education and Literacy has increased examination fees for II PUC courses by 50%, with the revised rates coming into effect from the ongoing academic year and applicable to the March/April 2027 final examinations.
According to an order issued by the department, the examination fee for fresh and private candidates has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 600.
The revision marks the first increase in II PUC examination fees in nearly eight years. The department said the previous revision was carried out in 2018.
II PUC examination fee revised
Under the revised fee structure, candidates appearing for the II PUC examinations as fresh and private candidates will now have to pay Rs 600 instead of the earlier Rs 400.
The 50% increase will apply to examinations conducted from the current academic year, including the March/April 2027 final examinations.
The department has also revised fees associated with delayed payment of examination fees. Students who fail to pay the examination fee within the stipulated period will have to pay the prescribed additional fine along with the examination fee.
Late payment and special fines increased
The revised fee structure includes higher penalties for candidates who pay their examination fees after the deadline.
Candidates who pay the II PUC examination fee with a delay of 10 days will now have to pay Rs 750. The special fine has been fixed at Rs 1,980.
The increase in late-payment charges forms part of the overall revision announced by the Department of School Education and Literacy.
Students appearing for the examinations will therefore need to take note of the revised deadlines and fee amounts to avoid additional financial burden resulting from delayed payment.
Fees for examination-related services revised
The department has also increased charges for several examination-related services by 50%.
The revised rates cover services connected with marks cards and other examination documentation.
One of the significant changes concerns marks card verification. While there was no fixed fee earlier for marks card verification, the department has now fixed a fee of Rs 2,000 for verification of marks cards for purposes including applications to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and foreign universities.
The revision will therefore affect not only candidates appearing for the II PUC examination but also students who require examination documents for higher education or professional purposes.
Fee revision after nearly eight years
The department has justified the revision by pointing out that examination fees had not been revised since 2018.
The latest increase comes as the state education department updates the charges for conducting II PUC examinations and providing related services.
II PUC examinations are an important stage in Karnataka’s pre-university education system, with students appearing for the final examinations before pursuing higher education or professional courses.
The revised charges will consequently apply to students and candidates covered under the new fee structure from the current academic year.
Students advised to note new rates
With the revised examination fees now applicable, students and private candidates will need to check the applicable fee before submitting examination applications.
Candidates should also ensure that payments are made within the prescribed period to avoid the additional late-payment charges.
The fee revision covers the examination fee as well as various services connected with examination records and marks cards.
The Department of School Education and Literacy is expected to implement the revised rates for the March/April 2027 II PUC final examinations as part of the new fee structure.
