Karnataka showcased its technology-driven development model at the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, highlighting how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used across classrooms, governance systems, agriculture and public services.

AI moves from labs to public services

Addressing the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar said the state is leveraging AI to improve governance, service delivery and development outcomes.

Karnataka highlighted initiatives that use technology to strengthen education, support farmers, streamline government services and enhance citizen engagement. The state positioned itself as a leader in adopting emerging technologies to improve public administration and economic growth.

Karnataka pitches itself as India’s innovation engine

The Chief Minister said Karnataka’s development strategy is centred on technology-led governance, investments in human capital, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Home to Bengaluru, India’s technology capital, the state continues to attract global investments, startups and research institutions, making it a key driver of the country’s digital economy.

Bengaluru’s growth needs national support

Alongside showcasing its technology achievements, Karnataka urged the Centre to provide greater support for Bengaluru’s expanding infrastructure needs.

Shivakumar pointed out that the city attracts talent, businesses and investments from across India, placing enormous pressure on roads, public transport, water supply and civic infrastructure.

He sought enhanced cooperation and investment from the Union government to support major infrastructure projects and ensure Bengaluru can continue serving as one of India’s leading economic and innovation hubs.
