Bengaluru: In a show of solidarity, Karnataka will construct 100 houses for victims of the recent landslide in Wayanad, Kerala. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on social media platform ‘X’: “I have assured CM Shri @pinarayivijayan of our support and announced that Karnataka will construct 100 houses for the victims. Together, we will rebuild and restore hope.”
Former Wayanad MP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi highlighted the commitment as a significant step towards rehabilitation, stating on ‘X’: “The compassion and solidarity of Indians are the strengths that Wayanad needs right now.”
Support has poured in from various sectors. The Mysuru district administration, along with a team of doctors, has provided essential relief materials including freezer boxes, compressors, jackhammers, body bags, emergency light systems, stretchers, and medicines. Kempegowda International Airport Limited contributed water bottles, raincoats, sanitizers, tents, PPE kits, gloves, and masks.
Industrialists and private firms have also stepped up. Member organizations of the Electronics City Industrial Association, Pranav Foundation, Biocon, and Narayana Health have donated essentials. Additionally, Ashaya Trust and Utishtha Swayam Seva Organization provided blankets, tarpaulins, ambulances, and financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh.
This united effort underscores the power of collective action in the face of disaster, aiming to restore hope and normalcy for the affected families in Wayanad.
