Bengaluru: Karnataka’s education department is planning to reduce the number of main examinations for Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Pre-University Course (PUC) students from three to two, beginning this academic year. The proposed change marks a shift from the examination system introduced two years ago to provide students with multiple opportunities to improve their scores.

The revised arrangement is expected to require students to prepare for two main examinations instead of three. Teachers and education officials will also need to align their academic planning and revision schedules with the new system.

Examination System Set for Revision

Under the existing three-examination system, students have had additional opportunities to improve their performance. The proposed reduction to two main examinations would change how students plan their preparation and approach the assessment process.

According to the information provided, the decision follows record results reported last year. However, the detailed rationale behind the proposed change and the final implementation guidelines will depend on official announcements from the education department.

Students are advised to follow updates from the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board and the Department of School Education and Literacy regarding the revised examination structure.
