Bengaluru: Voters in Karnataka can now verify online whether their names have been flagged under the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) category as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka, has launched a dedicated online portal to enable electors to check their status and seek corrections if they have been incorrectly categorised.
The move comes after more than 1.11 crore of the state’s 5.54 crore registered voters were identified under the ASDDO category during the revision process.
CEO launches online verification portal
Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar on Tuesday announced the launch of the online portal, allowing voters to verify whether their names have been included in the ASDDO list.
The district-wise lists are available through the CEO’s dedicated portal.
Voters who find that they have been wrongly classified as absent, shifted or under any other incorrect category can approach their respective Booth Level Officer (BLO) for correction.
Some district lists yet to be uploaded
While the portal has been made operational, links for certain districts, including Belagavi, Raichur, Shivamogga and Bengaluru Urban, were not available at the time of the announcement.
Officials are expected to update the remaining district-wise lists as the revision process progresses.
The Election Commission has advised voters to regularly check the portal for updates if their district list is not yet available.
Voters can seek corrections
Electors who discover that they have been incorrectly marked under the ASDDO category can contact their Booth Level Officer and establish that they continue to reside at their registered address.
After verification, the BLO will provide the required enumeration form, enabling voters to rectify their details and ensure that their names remain on the electoral roll.
Election officials have urged voters to complete the verification process promptly to avoid any inconvenience.
Over 1.11 crore voters flagged
According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, as of August 4, 1,11,07,461 voters had been marked under the ASDDO category during the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
The ASDDO list has also been shared with recognised political parties and made available with Booth Level Officers for local verification.
The exercise is aimed at identifying entries relating to voters who are absent, have shifted residence, are duplicated in the electoral roll, are deceased or fall under other specified categories.
Draft electoral rolls to be published on August 17
Officials said voters included in the ASDDO category will be excluded from the draft electoral rolls, which are scheduled to be published on August 17.
However, political parties have urged the Election Commission to verify every case before excluding any voter from the draft list.
They have also requested that Booth Level Officers be directed to compulsorily collect self-declaration forms from all affected electors to ensure that no eligible voter is omitted from the electoral roll without due verification.
