In a city often making headlines for cab driver harassment, one heartwarming act of integrity is capturing attention online. A Bengaluru resident recently shared their story on Reddit about an honest driver who went above and beyond to return their lost phone.

The incident occurred late at night in Hebbal when the person, struggling to find a ride, approached a stationary cab. The driver kindly agreed to drop them home, even refusing payment for the short trip. Upon reaching home, the passenger realized their phone was missing—likely left in the cab. Since the ride was informal, there was no way to trace the driver.

Despite multiple failed attempts to locate the phone, hope seemed lost. However, nearly 15 hours later, an email alert from Samsung revealed the device was back online. The cabbie had found the phone, charged it, and powered it on. The owner immediately contacted him, and to their amazement, the driver—who had traveled to Mysore—promised to return the device. True to his word, he took a bus back the next morning and personally handed it over.

As a token of gratitude, the passenger insisted he accept a ₹1,000 reward. The story has since gone viral, with netizens praising the driver’s honesty, calling it a rare moment of kindness in a time of growing distrust.
