In a heartbreaking incident on the eve of Sankranti in northeast Bengaluru, a mother was devastated to discover that her six-year-old daughter had been harmed by a 24-year-old colleague. The mother had briefly left her children in their makeshift shed in the basement of an under-construction building while she went to the upper floors to gather firewood for sweets.

When she returned 15 minutes later, she found her colleague, Abhishek Kumar, harming her daughter while attempting to silence her. In a desperate effort to protect her child, the mother hit Kumar with a wooden log and pulled him away. Workers at the site quickly detained him, but sadly, the child was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Kumar had recently joined the site and lived in the same building. He had visited the family earlier that day, giving the girl a biscuit before the tragic event. The mother, who works as a labourer, was left in shock as her husband, a security guard at the site, was away on work.

Upon hearing of the incident, a crowd of workers from neighboring states gathered and confronted Kumar, demanding action. The police intervened to control the situation. During questioning, Kumar showed no remorse for his actions, claiming he never meant for the child to die.

A case has been filed under appropriate legal sections.
