The much-awaited Mango and Jackfruit Mela-2026 will be held at Lalbagh Botanical Garden from June 4 to June 30, offering Bengaluru residents an opportunity to buy fresh, naturally ripened fruits directly from farmers across Karnataka.

Organised by the Karnataka State Mango Development Board and the Department of Horticulture, the 27-day event aims to connect growers directly with consumers while eliminating middlemen from the supply chain.

Direct sales to benefit farmers and buyers

Officials said the mela comes at a crucial time as adverse weather conditions across Karnataka have affected fruit production and delayed harvesting this season.

To support growers, the organisers have provided 168 stalls for mango farmers and 17 stalls for jackfruit growers free of cost. Farmers from Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Mandya, Koppal and Dharwad will participate in the event.

According to the organisers, direct sales will help farmers secure better returns while ensuring consumers receive quality fruits at reasonable prices.

Wide range of fruits and products

Visitors can explore around 65 varieties of mangoes and 15 varieties of jackfruit during the mela.

Popular mango varieties available for sale include Badami, Alphonso, Raspuri, Mallika, Sendura, Himam Pasand, Kesar, Dasheri, Baneshan and Malgova.

Jackfruit enthusiasts can choose from several local varieties, including Tubagere, Lalbagh Madhura, Rudrakshi, Shivaratri, Surya and Chandra.

More than just fresh fruits

Apart from fresh produce, the mela will feature a variety of value-added products prepared from mangoes and jackfruits.

Visitors can purchase juices, jams, pickles, candies, dried fruit slices, chips, pulp and speciality ice creams, providing additional income opportunities for farmers and entrepreneurs.

The annual mela continues to be one of Bengaluru’s most popular seasonal events, attracting fruit lovers, families and visitors from across the city. #Lalbagh #MangoMela #JackfruitMela #Bengaluru #Horticulture #newskarnataka
