A magazine loaded with live bullets discovered inside a lodge room in JC Nagar has led to the arrest of a man identified as Arman Mutahaar.

According to police, the accused had checked into the lodge along with a woman and had submitted his passport documents during the booking process.

Lodge staff alerted after checkout

Investigators said that after checking out of the lodge, Arman allegedly contacted the staff and informed them that he had accidentally left behind a “bullet” inside the room.

He reportedly requested the employees to keep the item safely until he returned.

However, when lodge staff inspected the room, they allegedly found a magazine loaded with live bullets instead of a single bullet.

Police said the accused informed the staff that he would return after two days to collect it, but failed to do so.

Police recover American-made bullets

Following suspicion over the item, the lodge manager approached JC Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint.

Police later summoned Arman for questioning and reportedly discovered that the ammunition recovered was American-made.

Investigators are currently probing how the magazine and bullets were brought into Bengaluru and whether they were transported illegally without official permission or knowledge of authorities.

Accused sent to prison

Police have arrested the accused and remanded him to Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

A criminal case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended use of the ammunition
