A multifaceted leader with a passion for creativity
Madhavi Suribhatla, a dynamic individual with expertise in multiple fields, has been honoured with the Abhaya Bravery Award for her dedication to empowering women through creativity and confidence-building initiatives.
Holding an MA in Personnel Management, an MBA in Marketing, and an LLB, she has worked as an HR Manager in a multinational corporation. However, her true passion lies in art and craft, a love she has nurtured since childhood.
Transforming lives through crafting
In 2014, Madhavi founded the Facebook group “Madhu Crafts n Creations”, where she shares tutorials and artwork to inspire others. What started as a personal passion soon evolved into a larger movement of creative learning and self-expression.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she recognised the stress and isolation faced by homemakers worldwide. To support them, she launched online crochet classes, helping them channel creativity as a form of stress relief. Her initiative quickly gained traction, with over 2,000 students joining her virtual workshops.
Achieving eight Guinness World Records
Madhavi’s dedication to craftsmanship has not only inspired thousands but has also earned her global recognition. She has achieved eight Guinness World Records for her exceptional artwork, a feat that underscores her perseverance and artistic excellence.
As a gesture of gratitude, she donates her record-breaking creations—including caps, ponchos, blankets, and scarves—to those in need, making a tangible impact on the lives of underprivileged individuals.
Creating a platform for homemakers
In 2020, Madhavi rebranded her group as “Mahila Manovikas”, driven by the powerful motto: “Every homemaker can be a record breaker.” Through this initiative, she aims to help women discover their hidden potential, break barriers, and build self-confidence by achieving something beyond daily household responsibilities.
Her vision is to create a community of empowered homemakers who can harness their creativity, gain recognition, and make a difference in their own lives and society.

About Abhaya: The movement for a safer India
Team Abhaya is an apolitical group demanding strict and swift punishments for perpetrators of sexual violence. The movement calls for judicial reforms to ensure sensitivity in handling such cases and seeks to create a secure environment for all individuals, irrespective of gender. Their mission is to hold law enforcement and the judicial system accountable in delivering justice and fostering a crime-free society.
