In a shocking incident, a man allegedly attacked two brothers with a trimmer after an argument over a request for weed in Bengaluru‘s Nayandahalli area.

The accused, identified as Lohith, 30, was arrested after the attack and later released on station bail, police said.

Argument turns violent

According to a complaint filed by Anith DN, a resident of Metro Layout in Nayandahalli, the incident occurred around 2 pm on June 3.

Anith, who runs a dog-breeding business, was standing outside his residence with a friend when Lohith allegedly approached him and asked for weed.

When Anith informed him that he did not have any, an argument reportedly broke out between the two.

Trimmer used in attack

Police said Lohith then went to a nearby tailoring shop where his father works and obtained a trimmer.

He later returned to Anith’s residence, asked for drinking water and allegedly launched an attack using the trimmer.

Hearing the commotion, Anith’s elder brother Punith rushed to help. However, Lohith allegedly attacked him as well, causing injuries above his eye and on his chest.

Anith also sustained injuries to his head, arm and the area above his eye during the assault.

Residents help detain accused

Following the attack, Lohith allegedly attempted to flee but was caught with the assistance of local residents.

Punith alerted police through the 112 emergency helpline, following which officers arrived at the scene and detained the accused.

The injured brothers were shifted to a private hospital for treatment.

Previous case against accused

A case has been registered at the Chandra Layout Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to causing hurt using dangerous weapons.

Police said Lohith had earlier been involved in a similar attack on a woman in Padarayanapura, for which a case was registered at the Byatarayanapura Police Station.

His father reportedly told police that Lohith suffers from mental health issues, although he is not currently undergoing treatment.
