A 45-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 17th floor of an under-construction apartment complex in Sampigehalli on Wednesday night, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Vivekananda, who lived with his wife and children.

Visited apartment before incident

According to police, Vivekananda visited the apartment building near a tech park, reportedly saying he wanted to inspect a flat for purchase.

He then went upstairs and allegedly jumped from the 17th floor.

Police from Sampigehalli Police Station rushed to the scene and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.

Financial stress suspected

Preliminary investigation suggests the man was under severe financial stress.

Police said he had allegedly taken loans from private financiers and suffered losses in stock market trading.

Investigators are also looking into whether harassment by moneylenders may have contributed to the incident.

No formal complaint has yet been filed by family members.

Growing need for support

The tragedy has once again highlighted the emotional burden caused by debt and financial pressure.

Experts urge people facing distress to seek support early through trusted family members, counsellors or mental health professionals.

Financial setbacks can feel overwhelming, but help is available and recovery is possible.
