A 52-year-old property manager has been arrested for allegedly driving his MUV with a man clinging to the bonnet following a heated road rage incident near Trinity Junction.

The accused, Suresh Kumar, a resident of Pulikeshinagar in east Bengaluru, has been booked under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was produced before a court on Thursday and remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

Argument at traffic signal turns dangerous

The incident reportedly occurred around 12.30 pm on Wednesday when Suresh allegedly abused goods vehicle driver Nanjunda for not giving way near Trinity Junction.

After the initial exchange, both vehicles stopped at the next traffic signal. According to police, Nanjunda approached Suresh’s vehicle seeking an explanation for the alleged abuse.

Nanjunda, a flower vendor returning home to Tyagarajanagar after purchasing flowers at Hoskote, told police that Suresh attempted to drive away while he was standing in front of the car. He said he fell onto the bonnet as the vehicle moved forward and held onto the wipers as the car picked up speed.

Car stopped after 1 km

Despite commuters reportedly shouting at Suresh to stop, the car continued for nearly 1 km before other motorists blocked the vehicle and forced it to halt.

The incident was captured on video and clips went viral on social media, prompting swift police action.

Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
