A Bengaluru man has alleged that his car was deliberately vandalised after being parked overnight in a residential area near BTM Layout, sparking outrage on social media over the damage caused to private property.
Joshua, who shared details of the incident on Instagram, said he had parked his car on a residential street around 11.30 pm on Wednesday while visiting a friend. According to him, several other vehicles were parked on the same road, and there were no visible “No Parking” signs in the area.
However, when he returned around 9 am the next morning, he was shocked to find his vehicle extensively damaged.
‘No Parking’ carved onto bonnet
Joshua alleged that a building owner had used stones and sharp objects to scratch multiple parts of the car. Photographs and videos shared online showed deep scratches across the bonnet, doors and side panels. The words “NO PARKING” were also etched prominently onto the bonnet.
Expressing disappointment, Joshua said the incident was disturbing not only because of the damage but also because of the mindset behind it.
“If there was a concern about parking, there are civil ways to communicate it. Damaging someone’s property is never the answer,” he wrote.
He further claimed that the vehicle was not blocking any gate, entrance or access point for residents.
Complaint filed, social media reacts
Joshua said he had filed a complaint at the Madiwala Police Station and hoped that no one else would face a similar experience.
The incident triggered widespread discussion online, with many users condemning the vandalism and urging authorities to identify those responsible. Several commenters suggested checking nearby CCTV cameras and pursuing legal action.
Others pointed out that parking disputes should be resolved through proper civic channels rather than through acts of property damage.
