A digital creator has gone viral online after sharing why he chose to reject an admission offer from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and continue in his job instead.
The creator, known online as sorted.hrishi, said the decision was driven by financial security and a desire to avoid heavy education debt.
Promotion came with MBA offer
In a widely shared video, Hrishi explained that he received a job promotion around the same time he secured admission to IIM Bangalore.
That left him with two major choices — pursue an MBA through student loans or stay in his career and build financially from where he stood.
He said he ultimately chose to continue working.
Why he said no
According to the creator, staying in his job helped him create a stable foundation and support long-term family goals.
He added that the decision allowed him to provide comforts for his family and achieve an emotional milestone — buying his parents their dream house while they could still enjoy it.
His reflections resonated with many viewers who related to balancing ambition with family responsibilities.
Social perceptions acknowledged
Hrishi also said he was aware that rejecting an IIM offer might affect how some people view success, including in arranged marriage settings.
However, he made it clear that he had no regrets.
The video began with the caption “Controversial Pro Maxxxx”, with the creator describing it as one of the toughest choices of his life.
Online praise pours in
The post drew strong reactions online, with several users praising his clarity and priorities.
Many commented that success should be defined personally, not only through prestigious degrees.
