In a bid to assist students and travelers from Meghalaya, the state government has sanctioned the acquisition of a property in Bengaluru to serve as an exclusive lodging facility. This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden of accommodation, especially for students enrolled in various courses across the city.

Government spokesperson and Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh confirmed the decision, stating that the facility will house up to 100 individuals at any given time. The structure will feature two dormitories, separately designated for male and female occupants, each with a capacity of 50.

Bengaluru remains a preferred destination for many from Meghalaya, whether for education or other purposes. However, securing affordable housing has become increasingly difficult, making this intervention crucial.

Addressing queries on the establishment of a dedicated Meghalaya House in Bengaluru, Lyngdoh clarified that while the proposal exists, the immediate priority is to ensure affordable stays for students struggling with high rental prices. Constructing Meghalaya House would require additional administrative resources, making it a longer-term project.

To bridge the gap, the government has decided to expedite the launch of this guest house, catering specifically to students and visitors in urgent need of budget-friendly lodging. This measure is expected to provide significant relief while broader plans are set in motion.
