Bangalore : Urban Development Minister Bairati Suresh has assured that the mandate for the Suratkal market work will be given soon. The project, worth Rs. 54.66 crore, has been sanctioned, and all technical and space issues have been resolved.

The minister’s response came after BJP’s Dr. Bharat Shetty highlighted the delay in the project, which has been tendered for four to five years but has not started due to the lack of mandate. Dr. Shetty described the market as a “ghost bungalow” and urged the minister to initiate the work.

In other developments, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced that auto-rickshaw meter stamping will be allowed at the Mangalore RTO office two days a week, instead of Kulasekhara, to reduce the inconvenience faced by rickshaw drivers.

Additionally, BJP’s Yashpal Suvarna demanded the setting up of a High Court bench in Udupi, but Home Minister G. Parameshwar said that Law Minister H.K. Patil will respond to the request later.
