Residents of J.P. Nagar 2nd Stage, 26th Main Road, 13th Cross, Mysuru, are facing significant problems due to the deteriorating condition of their road. Last asphalted in 1998, the road has been neglected for years, causing middle-class senior citizens residing there to suffer.
During rains, the road becomes extremely slippery, making it difficult for residents to navigate. Additionally, the vacant sites on either side of the road have become shelters for snakes and rodents, posing serious risks to the community.
Despite multiple complaints to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities and elected representatives, the issue remains unresolved. Residents question whether an old layout formed in 1980 should remain non-motorable for 26 years without proper asphalting.
Providing good roads is a primary responsibility of the MCC, especially after collecting taxes from households. The residents have frequently been given various reasons for the delay, ranging from tendering issues to budget constraints. However, these explanations have not alleviated the concerns of the affected community.
Residents hope that the MCC will soon address their plight by relaying the road with proper asphalting or bitumen, bringing an end to their daily struggles.
