Bengaluru: A heartfelt Reddit post by a Bengaluru-born man now living in the United States has resonated with thousands online after he shared how a recent visit to his hometown left him feeling more hopeful than ever about the city’s future.

The man, who moved to the US in 2014 and currently lives in New York, said he has returned to Bengaluru almost every year since emigrating. However, he described this year’s two-week visit as different from all his previous trips.

“I’m going back super hopeful”

In a Reddit post titled “Leaving Bengaluru today”, the tech professional reflected on the city’s changing atmosphere and said he sensed a renewed energy among its people.

He wrote that he noticed “a fresh aura” across Bengaluru, with more people exploring new ideas, building communities and finding like-minded groups.

According to him, the city’s evolving mindset made him optimistic about its future despite the challenges it continues to face.

The Bengaluru native also revealed that he hopes to return permanently in about five years.

AI changing the way people think

The Reddit user suggested that the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and changing work patterns are encouraging many people to rethink traditional career paths centred around education and conventional 9-to-5 jobs.

He acknowledged that Bengaluru still has areas that need improvement, including education, financial literacy and civic sense, but said the city appears to be moving in the right direction.

Expressing his affection for his hometown, he concluded his post by saying, “Gosh, I love Bangalore.”

Internet celebrates the city’s spirit

The post struck an emotional chord with many Reddit users, who echoed similar feelings about Bengaluru.

Several commenters described the city as having a unique “startup energy” that inspires innovation and creativity, while others said Bengaluru continues to offer a sense of belonging that is difficult to find elsewhere.

Many users agreed that, despite its well-known issues such as traffic and infrastructure challenges, the city’s people, entrepreneurial culture and welcoming spirit remain its greatest strengths.

While the claims in the viral post are based on personal experiences and have not been independently verified, the discussion has highlighted the deep emotional connection many residents and former Bengalureans continue to share with the city.
