Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also in charge of Bengaluru Development, announced that the ‘One Time Settlement’ (OTS) window for outstanding property tax payments in the city is open until July 31.

“The BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) had not actively pursued property tax outstanding due to elections. The one-time settlement (OTS) scheme will end on July 31 and hence I urge people to make use of the opportunity to clear the outstanding payments. The OTS scheme provides 50 per cent concession on penalties and 100 per cent concession on interest payments,” Shivakumar said.

More than 50,000 people have already paid their taxes under the OTS scheme, while another 4 lakh are yet to pay and will be deemed defaulters from August 1.

With twenty lakh properties within the tax bracket, Shivakumar urged those outside the bracket to pay taxes and submit proof within 90 days to receive a property tax account. The digitization of 20 lakh properties is ongoing, with 8 lakh properties completed and the rest to be completed within three months. Once the process is complete, digital records will be sent to property owners.

Shivakumar also highlighted the BBMP’s ban on flex banners, emphasizing that action will be taken against Assistant Revenue Officers for non-compliance. The public can lodge complaints about unauthorized flex banners on the BBMP helpline.
