Bengaluru: A 20-year-old paramedical student was found dead inside his house in Madanayakanahalli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, with police registering a case of unnatural death and launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased has been identified as Udhay Gowda, a resident of Marappanapalya. According to police, his body was discovered on Friday evening after his parents noticed a foul smell coming from his room on the first floor of their house.

Body found after family noticed foul smell

Police said Udhay was pursuing a paramedical course at a private college and also worked part-time at a commercial establishment.

His parents lived on the ground floor of the house, while he stayed in a room upstairs. Since the room remained locked, the family initially assumed he had gone to stay with his elder sister or had returned home late, as was his usual routine.

Concern grew when Udhay’s mother noticed a strong odour coming from the room. The family broke open the locked door and found him dead. Police suspect the death occurred around two days before the body was discovered.

Investigation underway

Madanayakanahalli police said no suicide note was found at the scene. While a relative reportedly claimed that Udhay had been spending time on online games, his parents denied that he was addicted to gaming.

Investigators said there was no evidence of foul play, though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be determined.

Police have seized Udhay’s mobile phone and sent it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination to recover relevant data that may assist the investigation.

Based on a complaint lodged by his father, Suresh, a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered. Further investigation is in progress.
