Bengaluru: Parents have lodged a complaint with the Child Rights Protection Commission against Sindhi High School in Hebbal for including a lesson about actress Tamannaah Bhatia in their curriculum.
The lesson, introduced to 7th-grade students, contains information about prominent Sindhi personalities, including Tamannaah and actor Ranveer Singh. However, objections have been specifically raised regarding the content about Tamannaah.
In their complaint, parents expressed concern that after learning about the actress, children might search for more information online. “There’s a risk they could be drawn to age-inappropriate content. Therefore, we’ve urged the removal of the lesson about Tamannaah,” the parents explained.
The school administration has responded to the criticism, stating, “The 7th-grade syllabus covers the period from 1947 to 1962, including post-partition Sindh life, migration, community, and conflicts. Such lessons are used to introduce students to the culture of the Sindhi linguistic minority community. There has been no oversight.”
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in balancing educational content with parental concerns about age-appropriate material. As the complaint is now with the Child Rights Protection Commission, further developments are expected in this matter.
