Bengaluru: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Bengaluru, has announced a special Passport Adalat to address complex passport applications that have remained pending since before May 31, 2026.
The Adalat will be held at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) in Mangaluru on September 5 and at the PSK in Hubballi on September 12. Both sessions will be conducted at the respective PSK premises between 10 am and 12 noon.
The initiative is intended to provide an opportunity for eligible applicants to have their pending cases reviewed directly by passport officials and facilitate the faster disposal of applications held up for various reasons.
Pending applications to be reviewed
The Passport Adalat will consider passport applications submitted on or before May 31, 2026, that have not yet been disposed of due to various issues or procedural reasons.
During the sessions, officials will interact directly with applicants and examine their individual cases. The direct interaction is expected to help applicants understand the reasons for delays and assist authorities in taking appropriate steps towards resolving eligible applications.
Applicants whose files meet the specified criteria and who wish to attend the Adalat must submit their consent to the Regional Passport Office within the stipulated deadline.
Consent letter must reach by September 2
Eligible applicants are required to send a self-signed consent letter by post. The letter must reach the authorities on or before September 2, 2026.
The consent letter should clearly mention the applicant’s file number, telephone or mobile number, and email ID, if available.
Applicants have also been instructed to prominently write ‘PASSPORT ADALAT – SEPTEMBER 2026’ on the envelope containing the consent letter. This will help officials identify the correspondence and process requests intended for the special Adalat.
The RPO has stressed that the deadline must be followed by applicants who want their cases to be considered during the sessions.

Alternatively, applicants may send their consent letters directly to the respective Passport Seva Kendras in Mangaluru or Hubballi.
The RPO has also advised applicants to send a copy of their consent letter in advance by email to [email protected].
The email should carry the subject line ‘PASSPORT ADALAT – SEPTEMBER 2026’.
Sending the copy by email is intended to ensure that the authorities receive advance information from applicants who wish to have their pending files taken up during the Adalat.
Strict eligibility criteria announced
The RPO has made it clear that only applications meeting the specified conditions will be considered.
The passport application must have been submitted on or before May 31, 2026, and the request to participate in the Adalat must reach the authorities by September 2, 2026.
Applications submitted after May 31 will not qualify for consideration under this particular Adalat, even if they remain pending.
Similarly, requests received after the September 2 deadline will not be considered for the September sessions, according to the authorities.
Applicants therefore need to check their application dates and ensure that their consent letters reach the concerned office within the prescribed timeframe.
Opportunity for applicants facing delays
Passport applications can sometimes remain pending because of document-related issues, verification requirements, procedural complications or other reasons. The Passport Adalat provides a dedicated platform for officials to examine such cases and communicate directly with applicants.
The September sessions in Mangaluru and Hubballi are expected to benefit applicants from the respective regions whose files have remained unresolved despite being submitted before the cut-off date.
The direct interaction between applicants and officials could also help clarify the status of individual files and identify any remaining requirements for their disposal.
Applicants eligible to participate are therefore advised to submit their consent letters without waiting until the last date.
The RPO’s announcement provides two opportunities in September for eligible applicants to seek resolution of pending passport cases. The Mangaluru PSK will host the first session on September 5, followed by the Hubballi PSK session on September 12.
With the eligibility and submission deadlines clearly specified, applicants should ensure that their files meet the May 31 cut-off and that their consent requests reach the authorities by September 2.
