Bengaluru: Traffic on the Peenya elevated flyover along National Highway-4 will be completely suspended for three days, from 5 am on May 5 to 11 am on May 8, to facilitate final load testing, police said.

The closure comes after the completion of cable repair works on the flyover under the jurisdiction of the Peenya traffic police station.

Complete traffic restriction on key stretch

According to traffic police, movement of all types of vehicles will be prohibited on multiple stretches of the elevated corridor during the testing period.

The restrictions will apply to:

  • The stretch between Kennametal Widia upper ramp and SRS down ramp
  • The section from CMTI Junction to Parle-G Toll via the flyover

Authorities said the temporary shutdown is necessary to ensure structural safety and stability following recent repair works.

Alternative routes announced

To minimise disruption, police have issued detailed diversion routes for commuters travelling in both directions.

Advisory for commuters

Commuters are advised to follow diversion signs and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the affected stretches.

Focus on safety and maintenance

The load testing is a crucial step to assess the flyover’s structural integrity after recent cable repairs. Authorities said such measures are essential to ensure long-term safety for commuters using one of the city’s busiest transport corridors.

Conclusion

While the temporary closure of the Peenya elevated flyover may cause short-term inconvenience, officials emphasise that the move is necessary to ensure safety and reliability. Commuters are encouraged to use alternative routes and stay updated with traffic advisories during the three-day period.
