Pioneer India Electronics, the Indian arm of Japan’s Pioneer Corporation, has unveiled its state-of-the-art R&D centre in Bengaluru, marking a major milestone in its mission to innovate within the automotive and mobility tech sectors. The move complements its existing Gurugram centre and aligns with plans to initiate in-car product manufacturing in India by 2026.
The Bengaluru facility aims to lead advancements in smart, secure, and cost-effective mobility for both urban and emerging markets. Company executives stated that the centre will collaborate with Pioneer’s global R&D network to explore vision and sensing technologies, such as dash cameras, digital mirrors, and 360° vision systems.
Key focus areas also include digital cockpit development, human-machine interfaces (HMI), and connected solutions tailored to two-wheelers — a fast-growing segment in India.
“This centre marks a vital phase in our international expansion,” said Shiro Yahara, President and CEO of Pioneer Corporation. “India’s vibrant tech talent and evolving mobility landscape make it a strategic hub for innovation in vehicle connectivity and intelligence.”
Siva Subramanian, CEO of Pioneer Mobility AI & Connectivity Company, added, “We are assembling a world-class R&D team in India to shape next-gen mobility systems.”
Pioneer is actively recruiting experts in embedded software, computer vision, AI, cloud tech, and mobile integration, aiming to rapidly expand its tech workforce.
Since its 2008 debut, Pioneer has catered to Indian consumers with car stereos, speakers, subwoofers, dash cams, and accessories, continually evolving with local demands.
