The brutal murder of Mahalakshmi, a Nepalese woman residing in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval, shocked the city, and recent developments have brought an unexpected turn. Mukti Ranjan Roy, the prime suspect in her murder, was found dead by suicide in Odisha. Roy had been on the run since Mahalakshmi’s dismembered body was discovered in her rented home.

Roy was traced to Bhadrak district in Odisha, where he took his own life near a graveyard. Authorities found his laptop nearby and have seized it, along with his diary, for further investigation. His body has been sent for autopsy, and a complaint has been filed at Dhusuri Police Station.

Roy and Mahalakshmi, who met while working at a fashion store in Bengaluru, had a relationship that turned sour. Investigators believe that disputes arising from her involvement with another man may have led to her gruesome murder. Her body was discovered chopped into over 50 pieces, kept in a fridge for nearly two weeks before police found it.

Roy’s suicide ends the search for him but leaves unanswered questions about his motives and the full details of the crime.
