A professor at a private university in Bengaluru has been suspended following serious allegations of religious discrimination after he allegedly called a Muslim student a “terrorist” multiple times during a classroom session. The incident, which occurred on March 24, came to light after a video recorded by a student went viral on X.

According to allegations, Professor Dr. Muralidhar Deshpande repeatedly targeted a student identified as Affan during a lecture, referring to him as a “terrorist” at least 13 times in front of nearly 60 students.
The professor is also accused of making several derogatory remarks, including linking the student to global conflicts and making statements perceived as deeply offensive and inappropriate. Students described the classroom atmosphere as hostile and humiliating.

The incident gained widespread attention after the video surfaced online, triggering strong reactions from student groups and the public. Concerns have also been raised over alleged deletion of classroom CCTV footage, which could have served as crucial evidence.
