A tragic incident has been reported from Bengaluru where a second-year Pre-University Course (PUC) student allegedly died by suicide at her residence, just hours after examination results were announced
Distress after exam results
The student, identified as Tanushree (17), was a science stream student who had reportedly failed in three subjects. Police suspect that the disappointment and emotional distress following the results may have led her to take the extreme step.
According to officials, no suicide note was found at the scene. However, her hall ticket was recovered from her room, indicating her recent focus on the examination outcome.
Incident discovered by friends
The incident came to light around 3.30 pm on Thursday. Police stated that Tanushree was alone at home at the time, as her mother had gone to work.
Concern grew when she stopped responding to calls and messages. Her friends, who had earlier spoken to her about the results, went to check on her and discovered the situation.
Police register case
Based on a complaint filed by her mother, the Hebbal Police Station registered a case of unnatural death. Preliminary investigations indicate it to be a case of suicide, though further inquiries are ongoing.
Need for emotional support and awareness
The incident has once again drawn attention to the intense academic pressure faced by students. Experts emphasise the importance of emotional support from parents, teachers, and peers, especially during result periods.
Creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to express disappointment and seek help is crucial in preventing such tragedies.es after exam results shock
